There is a particular kind of ride that only a handbuilt steel road bike can offer — one that asks you to slow down just enough to feel the road beneath you, to notice the way the frame absorbs the texture of tarmac rather than simply transmitting it. The De Rosa Collezione Acciaio Frameset is that kind of bike. Built by hand in Italy from Columbus steel tubing, it carries the weight of a framebuilding tradition that stretches back to Ugo De Rosa's Milan workshop in 1953. This is not a nostalgia exercise. It is a considered argument for what steel, done properly, still does better than almost anything else.

The Collezione Acciaio is constructed using traditional lugged joinery — a method that connects the tubes through precisely machined steel lugs rather than welds. The result is a frameset that is as visually striking as it is mechanically coherent. Lugged construction demands a level of fit and finish that exposes any imprecision immediately, which is exactly why De Rosa continues to use it. Every lug junction on the Acciaio reflects decades of accumulated craft knowledge, finished to a standard that makes the frameset as much an object of appreciation at rest as it is in motion.

On the road, Columbus steel delivers a ride character that carbon frames are still working to replicate — a compliance that works with the rider rather than against them, smoothing out road chatter on long days without ever feeling vague or soft under power. Whether you are holding a steady tempo on a classic Italian fondo route or pushing into a headwind on a long weekend loop, the Acciaio rewards patient, committed riding. It is a road frameset built for cyclists who understand that performance and pleasure are not mutually exclusive.

Design Benefits

  1. Lugged Steel Construction: Traditional lug-and-tube joinery is not merely aesthetic — it creates a mechanical bond between frame tubes that distributes stress across a broader contact area than a weld. On the road, this translates to a frameset that feels cohesive and composed, with none of the localized stiffness that can make modern frames feel harsh on rough surfaces.
  2. Columbus Steel Ride Quality: Columbus tubing has a long-established reputation for combining tensile strength with a degree of natural flex that synthetic materials work hard to imitate. The Acciaio's steel construction absorbs road vibration progressively, keeping your hands and back fresher across long-distance riding — without sacrificing the responsiveness you need when the road tilts upward.
  3. Italian Handbuilt Craftsmanship: Each frame is assembled by hand in Italy, a process that demands close human oversight at every stage. The tolerances involved in lugged construction leave no room for imprecision — tubes must be cut, fitted, and finished with exacting care. The outcome is a frameset built to last decades, not seasons.
  4. Ten-Size Range: With sizes spanning 48cm through 57cm, the Acciaio is designed to accommodate a wide range of riders without compromise. A proper fit on a steel road bike matters more than on most — the frame's ride character is built around its geometry, and the size range ensures that character reaches the rider as intended.

Final Take

The De Rosa Collezione Acciaio is a road frameset for riders who have thought carefully about what they want from a bicycle — and arrived at an answer that has nothing to do with trend cycles or specification checklists. It suits the cyclist drawn to long roads, careful riding, and objects made with genuine intent. De Rosa has been building frames this way for over seventy years. The Acciaio makes a compelling case for why that still matters.

The best amplifier Ive had since my 1985 Yamaha R-7.
Style: 7.2 Receiver
The Yamaha rx-v6a, tsr-700, and yes, the rx-a2a, are all pretty much the same AVR, on the same firmware channel. Same power, same dacs, same dac implementation, same output stages, same construction, they’re the same. The a2a has a 5th foot, and 2 ten thousand micro farad capacitors in the power supply, while the v6a and tsr-700 have 2 eighty-one hundred micro farad capacitors in the power supply, and only 4 feet. These 2 tiny differences make no difference in sound quality or reliability, whatsoever. All three are simply awesome. From the DACS to the amps, and everything in between, these Yamahas sound better and out perform all the others. The HDMI boards have all been updated, and the firmware is mature. To even match these in sound quality and reliability and longevity, you would have to spend many thousands of dollars. Of the rx-v6a, the tsr-700, and the rx-a2a, which ever one is on sale for the least, get that one, because they’re the same device. In this case, that’s a good thing because you’ll love them.

Yamaha quality, solid audio
Style: 7.2 Receiver
Best in class YAMAHA .... better than DENON or ONKYO in my opinion. DENON and ONKYO both have issues with overheating and then shutting down. Yamaha cruises along on same power level without any hiccups.

SOUND - is Amazing, Incredible and better than the movie theater!
Style: AVR-X1800H
Arrived quickly. Setup was easy for for quick start, but to fine tune will take a good deal of effort (fun for me so no issues). OK, SOUND - is amazing, incredible and better than the movie theater! (paired with Klipsch 5.1, but will turn it into a 7.2). Drowns out my neighbors dogs which bark all the time - this system can get loud but the clarity is crisp and clean. Recall 20 years ago this system would have cost $10k plus for everything, now set me back around $1500 for all. But this review is on the receiver and it is superb! Looks brand new, has sufficient warranty and 90-day return option so more than enough time to try and determine for yourself. The price is about $2-300 lower than a new one and every bit as effective so I definitely recommend this product to anyone that wants a very high quality home theater at a super low price point. Entry level to experienced, this receiver should satisfy all.

8.5 sound out of the box! (Want bespoke configs? Sorry.) Great Value, Easy Setup
Style: AVR-X1800H
Excellent unit. Off the shelf sound is very nice, but every room is different, so a bit of tweaking is usually required. Accessing the EQ settings takes a bit of sleuthing and the use of its app... which is subpar. The app interface can only be explained as designed by people who must not actually use it. Still, a wonderful machine at a fair price. I run in ECO mode and it powers my 35x47 room with plenty of power to spare and NEVER gets hot. I am running Infinity Reference speakers and a Klipsch sub in a 7.1 config. I highly recommend the use of the included Audyssey calibration microphone! My prior experience with Yamaha YPAO left me wondering what was the point. This time with the Denon, it set up the speakers, (i'm embarrassed to say) better than I did on my own. (To be fair, I'm sure Yamaha has improved its YPAO in the decade since my prior purchase) Bottom line. If you want maximum flexibility on EQ. Shop a different solution. However, If you want quality sound with 4K and up to and including ATMOS processing, with minimal tweaking, or just want to unbox and play, this is a wonderful unit at a very fair price.
